Food Safety Program

JCED inspects food service establishments and reviews pre-construction plans under contract with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas Department of Agriculture (KDA). The purpose of the program is to protect public health from unsafe food handling practices that may cause foodborne illnesses. All establishments in Johnson County, Kansas that are required to have a State Food Service License are inspected by a Johnson County Environmental Health Specialist using the Kansas Food Code.
