Industrial Pretreatment

Since 1981, communities across the country have been able to regulate industrial discharges into wastewater treatment plants in order to enhance those plants' ability to protect human health and the environment. The Johnson County Industrial Pretreatment Program extensively regulates industrial wastewater discharges so that toxic materials do not interfere with wastewater treatment systems or pass through to receiving streams. The Program issues permits, inspects, and monitors industries to control discharges to the sanitary sewers. This program also investigates instances of illegal and harmful wastewater discharges.
