Industrial Waste Surveys summarize an industry’s processing activities and help
define the wastewater characteristics of that industry. The information derived from the
Survey helps to determine whether or not the industry will need to be issued an Industrial
Wastewater Discharge Permit or related discharge authorization. Industries meeting the following
criteria should complete an Industrial Waste Survey.
- Industries new to the Johnson County Unified Wastewater Districts which may discharge
wastewater in violation of the Prohibited Discharge Standards specified in the Johnson County
Code of Regulations for Sanitary Sewer Use, 2003 Edition, and/or which meet the categorical
standards specified in 40 CFR 403 through 471.
- Existing industries which have significantly modified their wastewater characteristics and
which may now violate the Prohibited Discharge Standards and/or meet a categorical standard.
Upon completion, submit the Survey to the following:
Director, Pollution Control Division
Johnson County Environmental Department
Suite 2700
11811 S. Sunset Drive
Olathe, KS 66061
The Environmental Department will review the completed Survey and, if deemed
appropriate, will initiate permitting activities. Any questions should be directed to the
Environmental Department at (913) 715-6900.
