After the soil profile analysis
is completed and the soil description and system specification has been
returned to the applicant, the process to obtain a permit to construct
an on-site system occurs next. The Application for Permit to Install a
New or Reconstructed Non-residential On-site Waste Water System in
Johnson County form is completed.
Plan Review
Along with this form submittal, the applicant provides the Johnson
County Environmental Department with the following materials for review:
- A plot plan showing the foundation and proposed sewage disposal
location, prepared by a Johnson County Environmental Department-licensed
designer, designer/installer, or registered professional engineer or architect.
The design plan must be drawn to scale, no greater than one inch equals fifty
feet (1”=50’);
- Floor plans of the building and site elevations (rear, side, and front);
- A written description of the type of activities and number of people
expected to occupy this location and the hours of operation;
- A letter from a Johnson County Environmental Department-licensed
sanitary disposal contractor stating the entity is contracted to
pump the holding tank(s) for this location.
Permits/Inspections
Subsequent to the successful completion of the plan review, a permit to
install the on-site system is granted. Installation requirements are listed
on the permit. These conditions survive the annual renewal of the operation
permit.
Final construction and final grade inspection must be completed and approved
by JCED.
