Johnson County Landfill

View of active working face of a landfill. Earth berms are required around the working face for stormwater controls.

Active working face with many garbage trucks disposing of trash.

Close up of working face with four trash compactors. Compactors work throughout the day to compact the trash immediately after it is dumped into the working face. Efficient use of compactors increases the lifespan of a landfill and helps reduce litter blowing offsite. The seagull population is very heavy during the winter months.
