Update on Recent Activities at APAC-Reno

No odor complaints received by APAC, Johnson County or KDHE.
  1. No detectable readings at the ambient air monitors.

  2. The wastewater discharge permit (NPDES discharge permit) application was finalized with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Bureau of Water (KDHE BWM). The Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan is being reviewed for updating to correspond with the NPDES discharge permit.

  3. An estimated 2,008,800 cubic feet of landfill gas was removed and treated in December.

  4. An estimated 734,400 gallons of contact (water that has seeped through the landfill and accumulated underneath the landfill) water was removed and treated in December.

  5. All wells are scheduled to be sampled in March 2007.

  6. A new groundwater monitoring well (MW-9)was installed east of the lower pond. Water levels were measured on the monitoring wells on January 11. No water was found in MW-9.

  7. The Annual Gas Treatment Report and updated Operations and Maintenance Plan were forwarded to Johnson County Environmental and KDHE BWM and Bureau of Air and Radiation (BBAR).
