April Update on Recent Activities at APAC-Reno
|
Week ending April 8, 2006The landfill gas collection and treatment system is fully operational and working with no problems. The groundwater well levels in the landfill continue to drop due to the dewatering efforts. The five perimeter air monitor meters showed no detections of hydrogen sulfide for the week. The three interior hydrogen sulfide source monitors have been connected to the alarm telemetry system. Week ending April 15, 2006The landfill gas collection and treatment is operating efficiently. The gas is being used to run the asphalt hot oil heat transfer burner, which is used to keep the asphalt mixture melted. The contact water collection and treatment at the two seep areas continues to flow at 15 gpm each, but plans are to increase the flow rate to 40 gpm to increase the rate of landfill de-watering. The five hydrogen sulfide meters for landfill perimeter air monitoring showed no hydrogen sulfide detections above 10 parts per billion (lowest detection level for the sensors) the last 10 days. The three source interior hydrogen sulfide meters have not detected any hydrogen sulfide levels at or near the 10 parts per million (lowest detection level for the sensors) threshold alarm level.
