Update on Recent Activities at APAC-Reno

Week ending December 24, 2005

Landfill Gas System- Drilling of the gas wells continued all week. Twelve wells have been installed.

Air Monitoring- Five perimeter H2S air monitoring units were received and will be installed next week. High range units for H2S source monitoring are back ordered.

Contact water management - APAC-Reno's consultant met with Johnson County Wastewater staff and Johnson County Environmental staff to discuss status of review for discharge of the contact water through the county's wastewater treatment system. After discussing, it was decided the application stood little chance for approval at this time, primarily due to the existing hydraulic load on the wastewater plant. The plant is undergoing modifications but will not increase capacity until October/November, 2006.

Hydrogeologic Investigation- Sampling completed on newly installed perimeter wells and landfill wells on Monday. Another ground water well will be installed near the lower pond on 12/28/05. Goal is to have report to KDHE by mid January, 2006.

Intermediate cover- Due to cold earlier in the week and wet conditions, no intermediate cover was placed.
