The compost near the scale house was turned in February which
generated minor hydrogen sulfide odors unrelated to the water in the
landfill. No hydrogen sulfide readings were detected from the
perimeter or source area monitors. The batteries in the south seep
and west seep were replaced in February (The catwalk monitor is
powered by electricity).

An estimated 1,879,200 cubic feet of landfill gas removed and treated in February.

An estimated 2,704,400 gallons of contact water (water that has seeped through the landfill
and accumulated underneath the landfill) and well water were removed and treated in
February.
- A new water pump is being used on a trial basis to cut down on pump maintenance.
- Water was discharged from the east permitted discharge point at the maximum
capacity allowed by permit (120 gallons per minute) throughout February.
- KDHE issued a conditional permit for the landfill on February 11, 2008.
